LHC takes notice of suicide attempt by woman

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday took notice of a press report regarding suicide attempt by a mother of three children against assault of landlords in Narang Mandi. The court sought report within a week from the district and sessions judge, Sheikhupura. The LHC complaint cell directed the judge to look into the matter and submit a detailed report regarding steps taken by the local police.

According to details, the victim along with her husband, resident of village Qilla Kalar Wala, told the press in Narang Mandi Press Club that one day she was going to her relatives when four men of a landlord family abducted her on gun point. They took her Rana Town Labour Colony and accused Zia Ullah and Saif Ullah molested her while two armed men Abid Hussain and Hassan alias Mithu guarded the place.

They also forced her to drink intoxicated liquid. They threw her on the road in unconscious condition and fled away. The victim family further told the press that the police refused to register a case against the influential accused. Death threats are also being given by the accused forced to leave the village, she said The spouses protested against non-provision of justice and hit their heads with the walls in rage. The affected woman sprinkled petrol on her body and attempted suicide but the onlookers saved her. The victim family appealed to the higher authorities to take notice of the incident and provide justice.
