LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought a report from the district and sessions judge Gujrat, on the girl who was burnt alive in Phalia allegedly by her parents and brother for marrying the person of her choice.

The LHC directed the district and sessions judge to look into the matter and submit detailed report regarding steps taken by police along with his own comments within a week. According to details, Nadia had contracted love marriage with Dilawar Hussain of Gujranwala some time back after leaving her house.

Recently, Nadia’s family contacted her and told her that they had forgiven her, but when she visited her parents in Phalia, her father Shafi with the help of his wife and son set her ablaze. Nadia died before getting any medical assistance. Police registered a case against said culprits and arrested her mother and brother while Shafi was still at large.
