RAWALPINDI: Two police officials investigating the kidnapping of the daughter of a former policeman in 2006 were booked on Friday for poor investigation and failing to recover the girl.

Inspector Riaz Sangha, the then SHO of the Airport police, and SI Mohammad Nawaz were appointed investigating officers of the case in 2007. However, they lost some crucial evidence about the case.

Qazi Mushtaq, the father of the girl, had accused both officials of poor investigation. Taking notice of it, City Police Officer Rao Mohammad Iqbal ordered the police concerned to register case against the two policemen and arrest them.

The Supreme Court has already taken suo motu notice of the case and directed the police to recover the missing girl by Oct 12 and produce her before the court.

The police have been unable to trace the victim despite forming seven teams.

Meanwhile, an SI posted at Loco Shed was booked on the charge of illegally detaining a woman, police said.

Bahadur Sher lodged a complaint with the police against his wife after the couple entered into a brawl over a petty issue. The investigating officer detained the woman at a private house and forced her to record a statement against her husband and seek divorce from him. But she refused and complained to the CPO who ordered registration of case against the IO.
