International Women Leaders Summit on January 25

KARACHI: As part of the 4th Women in Business Conference Series (WIBCON) for the professional women, an ‘International Women Leaders Summit’ is being organised on Wednesday, 25th January 2012 in Karachi.

This was announced by Aamir Niazi, Director Pakistan Society for Training and Development (PSTD) while speaking at a press conference at a local hotel here on Monday.

The PSTD is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation, committed to the promotion of professional Human Resource Development through organising training programmes and conferences.

The learning opportunities and networking are aimed at assisting professionals in achieving excellence in today’s competitive environment.

The PSTD is managed by an honorary board of governors comprising leading corporate CEOs and directors, currently led by Salman Burney, Managing Director, GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan.

The vision for this conference is to make women draw inspiration from global and Pakistani leaders and overcome the stereotypical barriers which restrict their growth and success.

The driving force is to provide a forum for dynamic female leaders, entrepreneurs, opinion makers in the region, to explore their potential, share their success and inspire many more to take their lead.

The conference keynote speakers include former minister Rokia Afzal Rehman from Bangladesh, social activist and voice of Afghan Radio during the Afghan War Jamila Mujahed from Afghanistan, famous author Elif Shafak from Turkey, Dr Maleeha Lodhi former Pakistan Ambassador to US, Farzeen Irtizaz from House of Rani Emaan USA and development guru Shahnaz Kapadia from Islamabad.

Panel guests include the first Pakistani Emmy Award winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, senior bureaucrat Begum Nasreen Haque, Ayesha Aziz and others.

This conference will be attended by professionals from Pakistan, South Asia and the Middle East, as they face similar challenges in terms of culture, religion and gender biases.

Yasmin Hyder, Chief Executive, New World Concepts welcomed the launch of the 1st International Women Leaders Summit being held under the Women in Business Conference Series initiated three years ago.

“The presence of international speakers lends global learning opportunities for women entrepreneurs and professionals in Pakistan,” she said.
