Girls’ school blown up in Bajaur
KHAR: Militants blew up a girls’ primary school in Wer Mamond tehsil of the Bajaur tribal region on Sunday night.
According to local people, a group of about 40 militants came to Tani area and planted explosives in the school.
Wer Mamond is a stronghold of militants and educational institutions in the area have been lying closed for three months fearing terrorist attacks.
More than 60 schools have been destroyed in Bajaur so far.
Meanwhile, an armyman was killed and two of his relatives were injured in the Kotkai village on Monday.
Relatives said that Khan Badshah had come to his hometown on vacation. He was offering prayers in a mosque when gunmen opened fire on him. He died and his relatives, Khan Bahadur and Sher Zaman, were injured.
The sources said that Badsha had no enmity in the village.
In another incident, an Afghan national was killed on charges of spying for America. His body was found on a road near Inayet Kali on Monday.
He belonged to Afghanistan’s Kunar province. A note found near the body said he had been killed for helping Americans.
