Sir: In your news item, ‘Dr Shama Khalid takes oath as GB governor’ (Daily Times, March 24, 2010), it was written that Dr Khalid “became the first ever woman in the country’s history to assume governorship of a province”. This is incorrect as Begum Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan, the widow of the first prime minister of Pakistan, Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan, was the Governor of Sindh from 1973 to 1976.
