A 35-year-old woman was shot dead by her father for having illegal relations with an unidentified man. The incident occurred inside their home situated near the Lalabad police post in Quaidabad, on Thursday.
Identified as Neelum, the woman was shot dead by her 60-year-old father, Jahanzaib, following a heated argument.
SHO Sukhan police station, Firasat Shah, said the incident took place inside their house situated at the back of Bakri petrol pump.
The SHO added that the police was informed of the incident by neighbours who heard the gunshots after a heated debate.
The police found Neelum’s body in a pool of blood on reaching the house, whereas Jahanzaib had fled.
The deceased’s body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem examination. Her autopsy reports revealed that her body bore torture marks and that she received two bullets and died instantaneously.
According to SHO Shah, the victim’s brother-in-law had in his statement maintained that Neelum has six siblings and was divorced. She had been living with her family ever since the divorce.
He told the police that Neelum’s father suspected that she was in a relationship with someone, and had also discussed the matter with him a few days ago.
Her body was handed over to the family for burial, however, no case registered until the filing of this report.
