Extraordinary Achievement: Woman gets PhD in advanced astronomy

KARACHI: Maryam Sultana, a lecturer of mathematics at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, became the first Pakistani woman to obtain a PhD in extragalactic astronomy.

She did her research under the supervision of Prof. Shahid Qureshi at the Institute of Space and Planetary Astrophysics Sciences, University of Karachi. Her thesis included a mathematical formula and model on the formation of galaxies.
