LAHORE: A 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were found murdered in Johar Town early Tuesday, police said.
Police termed the killings “blind double murder” and are investigating. The police are yet to ascertain the identities of the deceased. Police believe the ‘couple’ was strangled by unidentified men for ‘honour’. The police have shifted the bodies to the morgue for autopsy.
Some passersby spotted the dead bodies, lying next to each other, in the nursery located near Shadewal Chowk and in the limits of Satu Katla police. They contacted the police by phone. A good number of people including schoolchildren gathered around the crime scene as the police arrived.
A police investigator said that unidentified men strangled the man and the woman somewhere else but fled after throwing the bodies in the greenery. The police have registered the double murder case against unidentified killers and are investigating with no arrest made so far.
Separately, a woman was found dead from a park in Mughalpura. Police investigators said that the woman, unidentified so far, was lying dead in a corner of the park as they reached the spot. Some passersby spotted the body of the woman and contacted the police by phone. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy.
Police arrested two gunmen shortly after a shootout in Sanda on Tuesday. Three people sustained wounds and were rushed to hospital. The condition of the wounded was stated to be out of danger.
Police sources said that two gunmen, identified as Liaqat and Rizwan, got involved in firing over a clash near Dhop Sari Chowk. Police also took weapons into custody. A spokesman for the Lahore (Operations) police said that violation of boundary wall was committed by the management of Syed Karamat Ali Imambargah, which triggered the clash.
