Couple arrested for torturing maid

LAHORE: Police arrested a man and his wife on charges of subjecting their 14-year-old maid to severe torture in the Sundar area on Saturday. The injured girl, identified Najma, has been admitted to hospital with her arm broken.

Accused Nasir of Sundar had hired the girl Najma for domestic work for Rs 3,000 a month but the couple allegedly treated her as a slave despite the man’s legal background. Reportedly, the couple had also manhandled the girl in the past. The couple got infuriated when Najma had left the house for some personal work a day back. On her return, they manhandled her up to their satisfaction. Their violence left her with her limbs broken and marks of torture on various parts of her body. Police have arrested Nasir and his wife.
