Cells for sexual harassment complaints to be set up

Karachi: The office for provincial ombudsman for implementation of law against sexual harassment at workplace would soon establish its complaint cells at district levels all over the province in the towns of Thatta, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Khairpur, Larkana.

This was stated by provincial ombudsman for law against sexual harassment at workplace, Pir Ali Shah while talking to officials of his office on completion of one year of functioning of his institution, on Thursday.

The ombudsman said that his office had been trying its best to constitute a three-member committee in every department of the government for entertaining and processing complaints related to sexual harassment at workplace. In this regard, efforts were also being made for imposition of law against sexual harassment at workplace, at all non-governmental and private organisations.

He said that his office using least possible time had resolved several complaints of working women regarding sexual harassment at workplace while such cases were resolved within the time frame stipulated in the concerned law.
