Alleged poisoning: Woman’s body exhumed on mother’s request

KARAK: The body of a woman, who had died five months ago, was exhumed on Saturday for medico-legal examination after her mother submitted an application to the civil judge-cum-judicial magistrate that her daughter had died from unnatural causes.

Eye-witnesses said that the grave of the woman, Dilshad Bibi, at the Tablighee Markaz graveyard, was opened in the presence of the judge, Amjad Hussain Tanoli, and Dr Shah Jee Mohammad of the Women and Children hospital, Karak, and the body was exhumed to get samples for examination to ascertain the real cause of the death.

The mother of Dilshad Bibi had approached the court with the application that her daughter, who married to a man in the Kunghara area, was poisoned to death by her in-laws and she died on March 29.

She told journalists on this occasion that she suspected her daughter’s in-laws of having poisoned her. Sources said that the samples from the body would be sent to Lahore for laboratory examination.
