Alleged harassment: FIA immigration officer suspended

KARACHI: An immigration officer of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been suspended for alleged harassment at the Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

The incident took place when the officer allegedly harassed a young woman arriving from Bahrain Monday night. According to the woman, the FIA officer asked for her cellphone number and sweets, officials said.

When onlookers filming the suspect asked him questions, he was unable to respond. The officer said he sought the young woman’s cellphone number for “inclusion in the list,” and asked her for sweets as a joke.

Director FIA has suspended the immigration officer and initiated departmental action against him.  According to the FIA spokesperson, Director FIA Sindh Zone-I Karachi had suspended the officer and ordered departmental action against him.
