On February 10, a woman filed a police complaint against her brother-in-law and father-in-law, alleging harassment and assault within her home in Rawalpindi’s Gujar Khan area. Authorities have commenced an investigation following the registration of the case.
According to the victim’s statement, she resides with her young son while her husband works away from home. She reported that her brother-in-law, Nayar Taazim, who was deported from the UK following a rape case, has been harassing her daily. The situation escalated two days prior to filing the complaint when Taazim, under the influence of drugs and alcohol, became aggressive after the victim summoned his aunt to intervene during a gathering in their living room. Taazim allegedly threatened to shoot them in a fit of rage.
The following morning, the victim claimed that Taazim attempted to force himself on her after she exited the washroom, pushing her and tearing her clothes. In fear for her life, she managed to escape and recorded videos of both Taazim and his father, whom she claims has also harassed her previously.
The complaint further includes an allegation that Taazim attempted to assault her son, but the attack was thwarted by the intervention of some influential individuals. The police were alerted via an emergency call, leading to their prompt arrival at the scene and subsequent guidance to formally file the complaint.
The police confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Preliminary findings suggest that there may also be disputes over property between the parties involved, which will be further clarified as the investigation progresses.
