8 Killed in 3 Separate Firing Incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

SWAT/CHARSADDA: At least eight people were killed in three separate incidents of firing in Swat, Shabqadar and Charsadda areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.

In the Chaparial area of Matta tehsil, Swat district, a man and a woman were shot dead in the name of honor. The accused, identified as the husband of the woman, was arrested by the police.

In Shabqadar, three people, including a young girl, were killed in a domestic dispute. A person opened fire on his 50-year-old brother, Gul Sher, and his family. The injured woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

In Charsadda, two brothers and a nephew were killed in a dispute over house ownership. The accused, identified as Jehanzeb, had an ongoing dispute with his brothers over the ownership of their house. The deceased were identified as Mir Ali, Nawaz, and Akbar.

The police have registered FIRs in all three cases and are investigating the matter. The DPO of Swat has said that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.

These tragic incidents have once again highlighted the need for action to address the issue of violence against women and men in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The government must take steps to ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes are brought to justice and that the victims receive the support they need.

In addition, the government must work to address the root causes of violence, such as poverty, illiteracy, and gender inequality. Only by addressing these issues can we hope to prevent such tragedies from happening in the future.

10-year-old girl molested

Rawalpindi: A 10-year-old daughter of speech-deprived parents was raped by her uncle in Rawal­pindi. The alleged rape suspect, reportedly, went to the victim’s house where she was alone, the police said, adding, taking advantage of her loneliness, the suspect forcibly raped her. In the application lodged with the Sadiqabad police station, the victim’s father said that the accused rapist Khalid Mahmood was his real elder brother and the victim’s maternal uncle.

The Sadiqabad police have registered the case on the complaint of the victim’s father and arrested the accused with the help of human intelligence and modern technology within a few hours. SP (Rawal) Faisal Saleem said that sexual assault of women and innocent children is intolerable. However, concrete evidences have been collected and Challan would be submitted before the court of law on the basis of scientific evidences.

Man, woman gunned down over enmity

DIJKOT: A woman and a milk seller were in separate incidents on Saturday, reportedly due to old enmities.

The police seized the bodies and shifted them to hospital for post-mortem, while the deceased woman’s relatives blocked the Dijkot road and protested against the police, demanding the arrest of the murderers.

According to the polices, 32-year-old Ali Raza went to deliver milk in Malikhlanwala when Shehbaz and others allegedly shot him in order to avenge an old enmity. The suspects mortally wounded Raza, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Allied Hospital for a post-mortem. They also launched a search for the attackers.

In the second incident, Shakeel Anjum, Ali Sher, Abdul Rahman, Shehzad and others allegedly shot dead 50-year-old Naseem Bibi.

The shooting was reportedly carried out in retaliation for the victim filing a case against the suspects in the Sumundri Road area.

The victim was shifted to a hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds.

When the police handed her body over to her heirs, they blocked the Dijkot road, protesting against the lack of arrest of the suspected killers.

The Dijkot SHO reached the scene and negotiated with the victim’s relatives, assuring them of the prompt arrest of the suspects. The protesters soon dispersed and the police launched an operation to arrest the suspects.

Killings over long-standing disputes or enmity are a frequent occurrence across the province. In April last year, four people were killed in Khurrianwala when unidentified people in a car opened fire on them and escaped. Police identified the victims as 40-year-old Dildar, 24-year-old Khalid, 35-year-old Rana Shakeel and 30-year-old Qamar Bhatti.

They were sitting outside an estate agency near Sheikhupura road when the assailants fired on them from a car. Dildar and Khalid died on the spot, while Rescue 1122 personnel shifted Shakeel and Qamar to a hospital in critical condition, where they succumbed to their injuries.

According to the police, the victims were killed due to an old enmity. Regional Police Officer Imran Mehmood sought a report from the CPO regarding the killing.

Man held for killing daughter

HARIPUR: The suspect who killed his daughter with a firearm in Ramazan, about three months ago, was arrested on Saturday.

The murder took place on April 2, 2023 within the jurisdiction of Saddar police station. A case was registered against the father of the deceased under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The accused went into hiding after committing the crime. DPO Haripur Mohammad Umar Khan took notice of the incident and issued orders to DSP Saddar Circle, Umar Hayat and SHO Saddar Police Station, Cadet Aamir Khan and the investigation staff to arrest the accused. SHO Saddar Police Station, Cadet Aamir Khan received the information about the presence of the absconding accused at the bank of Tarbela Lake.

After knowing this information was confirmed, the accused named Muhammad Ashraf, a resident of Chanjiala, was arrested during a raid. The investigation into the case is going on.

Another harassment video goes viral

KARACHI: A video clip showing a reprehensible sexual harassment incident in Orangi Town has gone viral on social media, sending shockwaves among netizens.

The distressing incident took place on a deserted street, where a veiled young woman, draped in an abaya, walked with her bag nonchalantly slung over her right shoulder.

In the video, a motorcyclist approaches from behind, his face conspicuously revealed by the CCTV cameras, and brazenly strikes the girl’s back with a reverse hand gesture as he passes in close proximity on the right side.

The shameless act came to the attention of local police through social media platforms, but no formal complaint has been lodged thus far. The incident reportedly occurred at around 9am on July 18. Authorities have requested anyone with pertinent information or who may have been witness to this reprehensible act to come forward.
