Man hacks ex-wife, her husband to death for contracting second marriage

A man killed his former wife and her husband in Badami Bagh area of Lahore after being resented by her second marriage, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to the police, the suspect, Zakir killed Samina (30) and her current husband Imran with the help of his son Yasir and four other accomplices.

Yasir, the son of Samina from her first husband, came to meet her late at night. When she opened the door, Yasir entered the house forcibly along with his father and his accomplices and hacked Samina and her husband Imran to death with a cleaver knife. The accused fled away after committing the crime.

The police registered a case against the accused and started conducting raids to arrest them.

Later, the police apprehended them with the help of Shafiqabad Muhafiz Force.

Shafiqabad Muhafiz Force stopped a carry van with two accused named Amir and Ali Raza for checking and recovered a pistol from the vehicle.

The officials detained the accused and took them to the police station for interrogation.

The accused confessed the murder when questioned about the recovery of the pistol,

The police, subsequently arrested four other accused from Kot Abdul Malik with the help of the two accused.

Zakir, Yasir, Ali and Javed are among the accused arrested from Kot Abdul Malik, said police.

The key accused, Yasir Hussain, told the police in a statement that his ex-wife entered into a second marriage with Imran following an elopement, which enraged him and led him to murder the two of them.

The police further revealed that all the arrested accused are the natives of Feroze Wattwan, a small town in the Sheikhupura district.

Besides, Zakir was also involved in the abduction of his friend’s daughter, Rubab (15), and Faiza Batul (11) along with his accomplices, added police.

He also kidnapped Mahim Noor (12), and Muniba (10), the deceased Imran’s daughters, who were later recovered.

The police shifted the bodies to the mortuary for legal proceedings.

Missing minor girl found dead in water tank

A missing minor girl was found dead in an underground water tank in an area of Sohrab Goth on Saturday.

Six-year-old Ateeqa had been reported missing three days ago by her father Mukhtar Ahmed, a labourer and resident of Ali Muhammad Goth, at the SITE Super Highway police station.

The father said that on Thursday his daughter was playing outside the house when she went missing. The family searched her everywhere in the locality, but all in vain. They then registered a complaint about the missing girl.

Police said that on Saturday evening they received information that the body of a girl was lying in an underground water tank in Ali Muhammad Goth. Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and recovered the body, which was later identified as of Ateeqa.

After completing the legal formalities, the police took the deceased to a hospital for a postmortem examination. The police are awaiting the report of the postmortem examination to ascertain the cause of death and if the girl had been sexually abused.

‘Safe Mother Safe Families’ seminar: Screening of girls before marriage essential: minister

LAHORE: Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Dr Javed Akram said that the caretaker government has recommended screening of children in all schools. Screening of girls before marriage has become very important in Pakistan. Instead of waiting for sudden calamities, we have to deal with them in advance.

Dr Javed Akram expressed these views while addressing a seminar ‘Safe Mother Safe Families’ organised by Al-Khidmat Health Foundation in Johar Town on Saturday.

Dr Jamshaid from WHO, Dr Mushtaq Sulehria from Punjab Healthcare Commission, Dr Ijaz, Chairman Prof Dr Zahid Latif, General Secretary Dr Usman Anwar, Dr Misbah and officials of Al Khidmat Health Foundation participated in the seminar.

The caretaker provincial health minister appreciated the efforts of Al-Khidmat Health Foundation, which provided the best medical facilities to hundreds of pregnant women in the flood-affected areas, for organising a seminar on a very important topic.

‘We have to improve the mother and child facilities. We are trying to provide better health facilities to the people according to the vision of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi. God loves those people who serve humanity’. There are dangerous diseases in Pakistan and every 50-year-old person in Pakistan faces a disease like blood pressure. All stakeholders should make a joint effort for prevention, he said.

The minister said that the government stands with Al-Khidmat Health Foundation for the service of humanity. ‘We have not been able to eradicate polio and dengue from Pakistan till date. We need to create a system for the betterment of the society’. He said reforms in the health sector in Pakistan have become the need of the hour. The Punjab government is conducting indiscriminate action against quacks across the province, he added.

Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Dr Javed Akram led an awareness walk held in reference to the World Immunisation Week at Dr Essa Laboratories Defence on Saturday.

The officials of Dr Essa Laboratories were also present on this occasion. The caretaker provincial health minister, Dr Javed Akram visited various departments in Dr Essa laboratories and reviewed the medical facilities.

Man arrested for murder of his aunt over ‘honour’

The District Keamari police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a man for his alleged involvement in the murder of his aunt in the name of honour.

Officials said that on April 25 a woman named Rozina was shot dead by her four brothers-in-law and a nephew in Ittehad Town’s Gulshan-e-Ghazi locality. The suspects fled from the crime scene, while police registered an FIR and started searching for them.

During the investigation police recorded the statements of the victim’s relatives who had arrived from Khyber Pahktunkhwa as well as the locals. Police found that the family members of the victim’s husband Sikandar were involved in the murder.

Police expanded their intelligence network and used technical assistance to confirm the presence of one of the suspects in the outskirts of District West, following which a raid was conducted. After some resistance police arrested the victim’s nephew Syed Nadeem Khan.

The suspect was taken to the investigation unit for interrogation. A 30-bore pistol and ammunition were found on the suspect, and sent to the forensic division of the Sindh police.

During the interrogation the suspect said Sikandar is a prisoner in Mianwali over a criminal case registered against him there. He said Sikandar’s wife had gone missing from the house earlier, and a kidnapping case was registered against Akram Bashir on the complaint of the woman’s brother-in-law Sher Khan.

Police arrested Akram Bashir, who is currently in jail, while Rozina left for Mianwali. Syed Nadeem Khan told the police that Sher Khan had brought her back to Karachi on April 25.

He said she was shot dead the same day by her brothers-in-law Sher Khan, Hameedullah, Gul Khan and Bahadur Khan, and himself, her nephew Syed Nadeem Khan. Officials said the search to arrest the other suspects is under way.

Dera man sentenced to life for killing wife, mother-in-law

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: An additional sessions judge on Saturday sentenced a man to life imprisonment twice for murdering his wife and mother-in-law for honour in 2017.

Additional Sessions Judge-I Mian Mehmood sentenced Sabir to a total of 55-year rigorous imprisonment. He also ordered Sabir to pay a fine of Rs1,040,000 to the parents of the deceased.

The convict would have to undergo another six-month jail in case of failure to pay the fine.

According to the police, the convict, Sabir, a resident of Bannu district, had entered the house of his in-laws situated in the Indus Colony in the limits of Cantonment police station, and opened indiscriminate fire, killing his wife, Nadra Bibi, 22, and mother-in-law, Rubina Bibi, and injuring his sister-in-law, Sapna Bibi, 13.

The killer suspected his wife to have extramarital affair with another person.

Umar Qayaz, Nadra Bibi’s father, had told the police his daughter was staying with her parents after quarreling with her husband over a domestic issue.

He said his son-in-law killed his wife after she refused to go with him to his home.

The Cantonment police had registered a case against Sabir on the report of Umar Qayaz.
