130,000 women IDPs expecting

Karachi: Former Senior Minister and Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, NWFP, Siraj-ul-Haq, has disclosed that about 130,000 women displaced from troubled areas of Swat and Malakand are expecting and no proper arrangements have been made by the government of Pakistan in this regard. He was addressing a hurriedly called press conference at the Karachi Press Club (KPC) Friday evening.

He criticised government’s poor performance in the tents that were erected on the outskirts of Karachi and other parts of the Peshawer area which lack sanitation and hygienic paraphernalia. Within two or three months, the number of displaced people would be increased drastically as about 1 lac 30 thousand women are pregnant, he said adding that it would further add to the agony of these people who were rendered homeless due to the ongoing military operation. He also criticised the Sindhi nationalist parties for opposing the settlement of these people.
