Young woman ‘missing’ from Pir’s mansion

KARACHI: On Monday, a 20-year-old girl was reportedly missing from Pir Syed Sohail Ahmad Shah’s mansion in Khairpur’s Ranipur, Sindh, Express News reported.

The girl from Meena village in the Qamber area was handed over to the Pir by her parents until a domestic dispute between the two parties was resolved.

According to the parents, Pir Shah had asked for the girl to be left at his mansion until their dispute was resolved. However, they claimed that they suddenly received a call mentioning their daughter’s disappearance. The parents lamented that they were not informed about her whereabouts.

Remand extended

On Monday, a court in Khairpur district extended the physical remand of Pir Syed Asad Ali Shah, the main accused in the murder FIR of his minor housemaid, 10-year-old Fatima Phuriro.

The Ranipur police produced Asad Shah before the court. They requested an extension of his custody for further interrogation, telling the court that their investigation was making headway as the child’s body was exhumed for a postmortem on August 19.  Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, Shabnum Phuriro, warned of self-immolation if the accused Shah and his wife were given favor.
