Young man, girl killed for ‘honor’ in Swat

A young man and a girl were killed in the name of honor in Matta tehsil of Swat on Sunday, reported 24 News HD TV channel.

Police reached the site and after completing the legal formalities shifted the dead bodies to Swat Hospital.

Police said an unknown shooter opened fire at Rafi Ullah, a resident of nearby village Darshkehla, and Rabia and killed them on the spot.

Police arrested a suspect and further investigations continued.

According to a non-governmental organization’s report, more than 229 people were killed in the name of ‘honour’ in Swat in the last seven years. 211 women and 18 men are among the dead.

Most of the men and women who get killed in the name of honor are poisoned, later such incidents are given the color of suicide. These incidents mostly take place in Tehsils Charbagh, Matta, Khawaza Khela, and remote areas of Kabal Tehsil in Swat.
