Women’s Ministry: Female activists hail devolution

ISLAMABAD: As many as 100 women members of the National Citizens Committee For Provincial Autonomy have expressed their support for the devolution of the women’s ministry to the provinces under the 18th amendment.

The organisation issued a statement after their meeting in Islamabad on Monday, which has been sent to the president, the prime minister, provincial chief ministers and chief secretaries, and all members of the 18th amendment implementation commission.

“We strongly demand that the process of transfer of all powers prescribed in the 18th amendment to the provincial government should be done according to the said deadline and in the most effective manner,” the statement said.

The group includes women leaders from organisations such as Mehergarh, Women’s Action Forum and other civil society organisations working for women’s rights.
