Women writers

IT is quite disturbing to note that in the Urdu textbook for Intermediate students in Karachi, published by the Sindh Textbook Board, there are no texts by women writers.
In the textbook for second year students, there is nothing of any sort by any women writers. In the whole book there are texts written by men only.
Writers like Perveen Shakir, Fatima Suraiya Bajia, Bano Qudsia and Kishwer Naheed seem to find no place. It is not only a denial to women writers but also an injustice to students for not teaching them the material that is unbiased and free of discrimination against women.
The authorities should republish this textbook and include texts written by women writers.
