Women role in developing modern literature projected

ISLAMABAD: A very informative and enlightened lecture titled “Modern Persian Fiction Literature” was arranged by the Department of Persian Language and Literature in collaboration with the Iran-Pakistan Institute of Persian Studies at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad, on Thursday.

The renowned Iranian novelist and short story writer Mitra Biat was the resource person of the seminar while Dr Taqi Sadeqi, Cultural Counselor of Iran, was chief guest in the event.

Dr Kherman Solaimani, Director Iran Pakistan Institute of Persian Studies, Islamabad, Dr Mehar Noor Muhammad Khan, Head of Persian Department, faculty members, students from university and other colleges and universities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad attended the event. Mitra Biat speaking on the event remarked, “women have a very special role in the promotion and development of modern Literature as well as classical literature.

Women have been very instrumental in keeping the tradition of story telling alive since generations”. “As far as the modern literature is concerned the female writers and story tellers have excelled the males in the field”, she added. Mrs Mitra also answered the question raised by the students and faculty members.
