Women parliamentarians urged to protect women

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Population Welfare and Special Education Chairperson Rubina Qaimkhani here on Tuesday urged her parliamentarians for coordinated endeavours to protect women rights and provide justice to victims of violence.
“Those responsible for violence against women deserve exemplary punishment to stop regular heinous acts of barbarism targeting womenfolk,” she told APP. She condemned chopping off of nose of a woman by her husband in Kashmore.
She said such acts would never be tolerated, adding that none would be allowed to play with the respect and life of women in the society. She termed it a collective responsibility of all the parliamentarians to support the victims and bring the culprits to justice. She added that the matter would be raised in the upcoming National Assembly session.
