Women-only bazaar opens in Kohat

KOHAT: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (CIP), which the Asian Development Bank sponsors, has set up an exclusive bazaar for women entrepreneurs to learn and display their artifacts for better earnings.

In this regard, a daylong workshop was organized for local women on Saturday to impart their modern techniques. It required expertise to achieve better commercial results from their value-added products.

Skills enterprises consultant Zahid Khursheed, gender coordinator Shehla Gul, program supporting officer Neelam Mehal, gender specialist Saadia, and consultant gender expert Gul Rukh were also present.

Stalls and shops would only be let out to women in the bazaar. Only female buyers would be allowed as most women in the conservative society don’t like to mingle with men in the shopping areas. The Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has also offered its services to the local women to help them start different trades.
