Women complaint cell established

Quetta: The Police department has established a complaint cell of women police in City police station. Police sources told APP on Monday that on the special directives issued by the CCPO Quetta Ahsan Mehboob, a women complaints cell has been set up in the downtown area of the provincial capital.

The centre will handle cases related to women. It is pertinent to note that women have lodged many complaints of being teased by the off track youth who wander in the markets of Quetta.

The move is being hailed by women who often visit to buy stuff for their families.”It is being hoped that the centre will enable women to do shopping with out any disturbance,” said a Saman.

She demanded setting up of more complaint cells in other areas as well, so that the feeble voices of the women fold could be heard and gender inequality be discouraged. On the other end, the government office of the women’s complaint cell was sealed by its landlord because it had failed to pay rent and utility bills for a year. The office dealt with five districts, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Shikarpur and Naushahro Feroze. The staff consisted of four people — Safia Baloch, who was in charge, Raheela Kamangar, her assistant, and two peons. According to Baloch, only the peons were paid regularly, while she and Raheela worked for free.
