KARACHI – There is a need to apprise women of their rights. This was stressed by Sindh Minister for Women Development, Ms. Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto.

Speaking at a seminar here on Thursday, she said women councillors should play their role in this very respect.

Tauqeer Fatima further said women should be brought into the national mainstream so that they could be a part in the decision making.

She was of the view that by imparting education, women can be empowered and financially strengthened.

The Minister also pointed out that by initiating “Benazir Bhutto Youth Programme “, the government is providing employment opportunities to the youth in the urban and well as rural areas besides imparting professional training.

She said this would enable the youths to play their due role in the task of national development. Tauqeer Fatima said steps are being taken for the elimination of customs such as “Wani” and “Karo kari” etc.
