Woman, youth doused with acid separately

SIALKOT: A young woman sustained critical burns when a burqa-clad culprit threw acid on her in village Jatial, 18-km away from here on Monday.

According to details, 22-year-old Irum Bibi, a resident of village Jatial was in her house when all of sudden a burqa-clad man stormed into the house and threw acid on her face.

Resultantly she sustained critical burns on her face and was rushed to THQ Hospital Hazro from where she was immediately referred to POF Hospital Waha due to unavailability of burn unit. The sources said that the condition of Irum was critical.

Meanwhile, according to sources in the police, the accused who threw acid on her (Irum) was her cousin namely Dilawar who wanted to marry her but due to some family problems his wish could not be materialised. They said that in sheer disappointed, Dilawar took the extreme and inhuman step.

Meanwhile, in Sialkot, some unknown motorcyclists threw acid on a youth namely Muhammad Hussain in village Laaleywali-Badiana, Pasrur tehsil here.

Reportedly, the youth was standing near his house in the village when, three motorcyclists doused him with acid.

The victim received critical burns on his face, arms, chest and other body parts and was shifted to Mayo Hospital Lahore from Pasrur Civil Hospital due to his critical condition.

Meanwhile, the aggrieved family suspected that old enmity with their rivals could be a reason behind the incident.
