PESHAWAR: A man was accused of axing his wife and three children to death, with the help of his brother and others, in Islamabad Town within the jurisdiction of Paharipura police station on Friday. The victims have been identified as Bakht Meena, 25, Waqas, 4, and Amna and Gulmeena, who were between the ages of two and five.
According to an official of Paharipura police station, complainant Marjana Bibi, a resident of Dolatzai, Sarband, and mother of Meena, registered an FIR against her son-in-law and his accomplices.
She said Umra Khan, a resident of Landikotal, Khyber Agency, killed her daughter and three grandchildren after being incited by his father, Misri Khan. In her FIR, she stated, Misri Khan persuaded Umra to axe all four of them in cold-blood. Misri and Amanullah, both in prison, managed to convince Umra to kill his family.
Marjana Bibi also accused Umra’s brother Syed Wali alias Sadwaray and Akram, a resident of Shahi Bala. Umra, Wali and Akram then went underground after the crime was committed. According to the police, Umra had shifted to a rented house with his family last month. Moreover, according to SHO Safdar Yousafzai, Umra had also killed Meena’s sister some time ago.
Talking to The Express Tribune, an official of Paharipura police station said, “Amanullah and Misri Khan are currently serving their term in jail, which means they are hardened criminals.” The motive behind the murders is still unclear but police believe “honour” could be a likely reason.
