Karachi: A woman was killed and her sister-in-law injured when her husband attacked them with a
dagger in Orangi Town on Thursday, said the Iqbal Market police.
Mehnaz Murshid, 30, had left her husband Murtaza after she found out that she was his third wife. She was at her parents’ house in Tauheed Colony, Block L, Orangi Town, where her husband arrived to persuade her to go back with him.
They got into an argument, during which Murtaza attacked and injured his wife with a dagger. When her sister-in-law Shehnaz Ijaz, 35, intervened, Murtaza attacked and injured her as well.
The hue and cry raised by the women brought the locals to the scene, following which Murtaza slit his wife’s throat and escaped. The injured women were being taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, when Mehnaz expired.
Maid shot dead
A maid, Rehana, 25, got into an argument with a security guard near Shehzad Masjid, Block 4, Federal B Area, following which she was shot dead, said the Gulberg police. The guard fled the scene, while the maid’s body was taken to the ASH.
