Woman ‘murdered’ by husband, in-laws

A man, in connivance with his parents and brother, allegedly killed his wife by strangling her to death with a scarf.

Police registered a case against the four suspects under murder provisions.

In the case filed by Imran Hussain with Razaabad Police, it was stated that his sister Shumaila Akhtar was married to Umar Farooq, a resident of Chak 219. The couple would often quarrel over petty matters.

On Wednesday, during one of the couple’s frequent arguments, the suspect’s brother Umar Farooq, along with his father Muhammad Aslam and mother Samina Bibi, allegedly tortured Shumaila and strangled her with a scarf, rendering her unconscious.

The victim succumbed to her injuries as she was being shifted to General Hospital Ghulam Muhammad Abad. According to the complainant, Umar Farooq had threatened to kill the sister prior to her murder.

Razaabad police reached the scene and took possession of the victim’s body, handing it over to her heirs after a post-mortem.

A case was registered under the provisions of 302/34 of the Criminal Code against the named accused and police started conducting raids to arrest them.

Earlier this week, a man allegedly shot his sister dead upon suspicion of adultery.

The deceased’s mother, father and sister reportedly washed away the blood, calling the murder a suicide.

The police registered a case and took the victim’s father, son, mother and daughter into custody and started an investigation.

Sub-Inspector Mohammad Maqsood Shahid stated in his complaint that he was patrolling in an official vehicle when police received a report that Adil, a resident of Chak 147 GB, allegedly shot and killed his younger sister Amina Sami in their house and that her mother Bushra and sister Maria Sami washed the crime scene and destroyed the evidence.
