Woman moves SHC in free will marriage case

Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to the advocate general, the Korangi police and others on a petition of a woman seeking protection for her husband and in-laws.The petitioner, Sheeza Malik, submitted that she married Faizan Rasool of her free will on August 19.

She said the marriage annoyed her family and they were harassing and threatening her and her husband. The woman sought protection and the quashment of a criminal case if any against her spouse and in-laws. A single bench, headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, issued notices to the advocate general and the prosecutor general and the Korangi police, and directed them not to harass or arrest the couple of the man’s family.

New AAG

The Sindh government has promoted Assistant Advocate General Adnan Karim Memon to the post of additional advocate general with immediate effect. Karim had served as assistant AG for five years.
