SUKKUR: An FIR has been lodged at the Ghotki police station against holders of a jirga here on Thursday.
Seven people, including the convener of the jirga, Hafiz Siddique Samejo, former district president of the PML-N, have been nominated in the FIR.
The jirga was convened to settle a dispute which emerged after a free will marriage between Mst Amna Samejo and Abid Kolachi two months ago.
The marriage had solemnised in the court of District and Session Judge Ghotki.
After hearing both the sides, the jirga had slapped a fine of Rs1million on Abid Kolachi besides directing the Kolachis to hand over a girl for marriage to Samejos. The jirga was held in the village of Rahimo Wali in Ghotki on Thursday.
Disagreeing with the jirga verdict, Ms Amna reached at the police station and lodged an FIR in which she nominated seven people. Police have not arrested anyone till the filing of this report.
Apprehending that they might be killed in retaliation, both Abid and Amna have vanished from their villages.
