SWAT: A woman was shot dead by her estranged husband here on Saturday, the police said.
Rahimabad police station officials said the deceased had filed a case in a local court seeking divorce from her husband, and her father was taking her to the court to appear in the case. They said her husband, Habibulla and his father, who were waiting for them, opened fire, killing the woman on the spot and injuring a passerby.
Mohammad Yar, father of the deceased, said his daughter was married to Habidullah, a resident of Nusrat Kalay area, about four years ago, but she had come to her parents’ house due to violence against her by her husband.
“A few months ago, we had had filed a case seeking her divorce from her husband, but the man did not want to divorce her and wanted to take her home forcibly.
The police filed a case and arrested both the accused.
The injured passerby was identified as Umar Ali.
Meanwhile, a man was shot dead by his rivals at Banr Chowk in Mingora, the police said.
They said Saddam and Malik Mian, residents of Kamila area of Kohistan, opened fire on Qeemat Gul, also a resident of Kohistan, killing him on the spot. The attackers escaped.
“The cause of the murder was an old enmity. The body was handed over to family after postmortem,” the police said, adding an FIR had been registered against the accused.
Separately, a man shot dead his brother in Chitkon Balakot area of Mankiyal valley.
Mankiyal police said Akbar Zada along with his sons, Akhtar Hussain and Abid Hussain, opened fire on his brother, Pir Zada, leaving him seriously injured. The injured was shifted to Madyan Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
The police registered a case against the accused and arrested them.
