Woman ends life to get rid of ‘Blackmailing’

Karachi- Police on Friday lodged a murder (Qatl-Bis-Sabab) case against six men for allegedly blackmailing a woman that forced her to commit a suicide.

A woman who was resident of Shadman Town had reportedly hanged herself inside her flat. Initially, the case was emerged as a suicide but later, the deceased voice messages went viral in which she clearly accused some men of neighbourhood of blackmailing her.

In a voice message sent to a friend just before the suicide, the deceased woman said that she was threatened by the men for dire consequences, if she didn’t accept their demands.

“The video was made by having a fake marriage and they are making it viral. They are calling me to meet them and hurling threats to my children,” she noted in possibly her last voice message. In an audio, the woman could be heard saying that the step she was about to take may end her life. The woman’s friend forwarded her messages to her brother who got the case lodged at Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station under sections 322 (Qatl-Bis-Sabab) and 34 (common intention) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPP). Qatl-Bis-Sabab is registered against a person when his unlawful act becomes a cause for someone’s death.

In a major development, SSP Central Ghulam Murtaza Tabassum claimed to have arrested four of six nominated accused. Those who were arrested included Waqas, Farhan, Shahid and Irtaza while two were still at large.
