LAHORE: A man burnt his wife to death after dousing her with petrol over a domestic dispute in the limits of Baghbanpura police on Wednesday.
Police have arrested the accused, Haider, a resident of Baghbanpura, and registered a case against him on the statement of his wife Zubaira Bibi who had recorded her statement before her death.
Police said that Haider had differences with his wife over a domestic issue for the last few months. The accused, after exchanging harsh words with his wife, sprinkled petrol on her and set her on fire.
An injured Zubaira was taken to a nearby hospital where she succumbed. Police handed over the body to her heirs after completing the legal procedure.
In another incident, a 45-year-old man whose identity could not be ascertained, was killed by border forces when he was trying to smuggle different items to India in the Hadiara police area.
Police said that the man was trying to smuggle goods to the Indian side of the border when border forces signalled him to stop. But he offered resistance, forcing the forces to shoot him to death, police added.
Two men were also found dead in Bhati Gate area in the city. Police said that the men appeared to be addicts.
