QUETTA: Two women were shot dead in central Balochistan on Friday in a latest case of honour killing in a country where killers in such cases often go scot-free due to lacunas in laws. Six people, among them a man and his three sons, were killed by gunmen elsewhere in the restive province.
The women were killed in the Jhal Magsi district. A man, identified by local police as Gul Sher Magsi, allegedly shot dead his wife and daughter because he suspected their moral character in the Barecha area of Jhal Magsi. The alleged killer fled the scene. The Levies, a tribal police force, registered a double-murder case.
Separately, six people – among them a man and his three sons – were killed in Panjgur district on Friday.
Gunmen barged into the house of a man, identified by police as Abdul Malik, in the Paroom area of Panjgur and opened indiscriminate fire. Malik, his three sons, Saddam, Aamir and Razaq, and their two guests — Zarif and Maula Gul Muhammad – were killed on the spot.
According to Levies force officials, the incident took place Friday morning but reported in the evening because there is no telecommunication network in the remote region.
“Malik and his sons were wanted to police and Levies in cases of murder and robbery,” Panjgur DSP Allah Baksh Baloch said. However, he added that the murder could be the result of some personal enmity.
