The $4 million Improving Girls Education Activity, financed by the US government and led by US Ambassador Donald Blome and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Shahram Khan Tarakai, aims to give girls in the province’s outlying areas access to high-quality education.
In a statement, the US Embassy stated that the four-year US Agency for International Development (USAID) project would implement public-private partnerships to enhance school management in public girls’ schools.
According to Ambassador Blome, the US government supports Pakistan’s goal of providing a successful future for all of its residents, including females.
“We look forward to a strong partnership and fruitful collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department to strengthen education for Pakistani children, and especially girls, through this activity.”
Tarakai said that the private sector has emerged as a crucial supporter of the government’s efforts to solve the issues in the social sector in recent years. Successful collaborations in KP’s health sector are evidence of that.
“We are confident that with the assistance of the US government’s educational initiative, we will be able to improve school quality by increasing the efficiency of school management.”
Ambassador Blome also paid a visit to the Eleanor Roosevelt Corner at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women’s University, the largest women’s university in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
