University for women in NWFP approved

PESHAWAR, Jan 7: The provincial development working party (PDWP) has approved the women university scheduled to start functioning on the premises of Frontier College for Women, Peshawar, soon.

According to an official handout issued here on Tuesday, the approval was given at a meeting. The college premises will be utilized temporarily for three years and during this period a separate campus will be constructed for the university at a suitable location.

The PDWP, which met under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Mir Laiq Shah, also approved Rs57.777 million for the university. Secretary Higher Education Tariq Jamil and Chief Planning Officer Anwar Khwaja also attended the meeting.

All the staff members of the university will be women and it will help those who could not continue their postgraduate studies because of the non-availability a separate education facility for the women
