MULTAN: In a quick breakthrough, Gadai police has arrested two suspects for sexually assaulting and setting ablaze a 12-year-old boy in Dera Ghazi Khan on Sunday. A case has been registered against the suspects at the Gadai police station.

SHO Gadai Police Station Ali Mohammad told The Express Tribune that they have nabbed two suspects during a raid. “We cannot disclose their names till all the culprits are arrested. Further investigation is under way,” he added.

Meanwhile, the residents of Basti Sohrani revealed that the victim’s family had a property dispute with the suspects since the last 10 years.

Hafiz Sulaiman, father of victim, had appealed to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, IG Mushtaq Sukhaira and other authorities to provide justice to him.

On November 12, four men had allegedly set alight a 12-year-old boy in the outskirts of Dera Ghazi Khan after a failed sexual assault.

The victim’s father said his son was playing outside his house located in Basti Sohrani when four men abducted him, took him to their house and tried to rape him.

When his son started shouting they poured petrol over him, set him on fire and fled the crime scene.

After the incident, the child was taken to DG Khan Hospital where the hospital’s medical superintendent said the boy had sustained 25% burns and his condition was out of danger.

Earlier, Gadai police nabbed three suspects in connection with the incident identified as Mohsin, Sajid and Ramzan and registered a case against them.
