Two held for killing over Karo-Kari

SUKKUR – Kandhra police have arrested two out of four suspects booked in the murder case of Gaji Jaskani, 50, who was axed to death some two days back on the pretext of Karo-Kari, in village Khan Muhammad near Kandhra.

Ghulam Murtaza, the son of the slain, lodged an FIR at the Kandhra police station against Ali Gul, Subhan, Ghous Bux and Qurban Jaskani. Police have arrested Ghous Bux and Qurban Jaskani, while raids were being conducted to arrest the remaining two accused.

According to the police, one year ago Ali Gul suspected that his wife had illicit relations with Gaji Jaskani, after which a Jirga was held, which imposed a fine of Rs 250,000 on Gaji Jaskani, who was also asked not to enter the village again, but Gaji often used to visit his relatives in the village. Some two days back, Gaji visited the village to attend the marriage ceremony of a relative of his, and when he was returning from the party, the suspects axed him to death and fled.

Meanwhile, thieves stole cash, prize bonds and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees from the house of a government officer in Ghotki on Sunday night. Reports said thieves broke the locks of a house of a deputy district officer, Social Welfare, Khan Muhammad Mahar situated at Hussain Beli road near Ghalla Mandi and stole cash worth Rs35,000, prize bonds of Rs50,000, gold ornaments 12 Tola, a colour television set, telephone set, two irons, Japanese cloth and other valuables and fled. The inmates of the house had gone to village Saleh Mahar to condole the death of a relative.
