Two cops arrested for ‘rape’

MULTAN: Gulgasht police arrested on Friday two constables on charges of raping a woman.

Malik Ashfaq, of Chah Waryamwala, said his wife (S) left home for her parents’ near MDA Chowk after a quarrel with him on June 23 night. Two motorcycle riders took her from Lodhi Colony to Diwan Ka Bagh where they allegedly raped her, investigation officer Falaksher said. They were later identified Ashraf and Abid, constables of Police Lines.

They left her in unconscious condition and later people shifted her to hospital where she was under treatment. An FIR has been registered under section 376(2) of the PPC against Ashraf and Abid and both have been arrested. A police officer said DNA tests would be conducted as part of investigation.
