Two acid throwers awarded 112 years imprisonment

FAISALABAD: Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) awarded a total of 112 years of imprisonment to each of the two accused involved in acid throwing case of Ghulam Muhammad police station.

According to the prosecution, Kashif, resident of Bahmani Wala, along with his accomplices Irshad, resident of Vehari and Saleem Akhtar of Rasheedabad, threw acid, while riding on motorcycles, on four girls Uzma, Nida (13), her sister Farah (18) and Nazia (20) when they were coming out of a garments factory near A-Block, Ghulam Muhammad Abad at Kashmir Road on February 18, 2012.

The motive behind this incident was reported that Uzma, the cousin of accused Kashif, who wanted to marry her but Uzma’s family rejected the marriage proposal due to which Kashif got infuriated and threw acid on her. Due to acid, all the four girls received serious burn injuries and were rushed to local Allied Hospital while the accused managed to flee.
