Tribes warned against holding Jirgas on Karo-Kari issues

KHAIRPUR: Sardar Ghulam Sarwar Sarki, the OSD to Chief Minster Sindh Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Jirga committees, held here on Monday meetings with the elites of different tribes and urged them to reconcile their feuds through holding Jirgas and save Sindh from complete devastation.

Sarki said that the increasing crime rate was causing the development pace in the province to suffer badly, so the Sindh government has decided to hold Jirgas to resolve tribal feuds immediately.

However, he added, Jirgas on issues pertaining to Karo-Kari would not be allowed and those who did not refrain from holding Jirgas on Karo-Kari issues would face severe punishments according to the law of the land.

He said Sindh was under the threat of tribal feuds, which reflected negatively on the economy of the province, adding that the tribal feuds were exploited by certain quarters to defame the province.

He announced that an ongoing tribal feud between the Mashori and Chang tribes of the Khairpur district would be resolved through holding a Jirga on May 6. He said that other tribal feuds like those between the Narejo, Jagirani, Maitla and Kandhra tribes would also be resolved very soon.
