Training centre for women inaugurated

KARACHI, Jan 7: Sindh Labour Minister Amir Nawab Khan has announced that an employment exchange in every district of Sindh will be established to help people get jobs of their choice.

He was speaking at a ceremony held on Wednesday for the inauguration of a vocational training centre for women at the Khyber Muslim School, Metroville, Site.

The centre, set up under the BBS Youth Development Programme, offers courses of beautician, sewing, embroidery and the English language.

The minister called upon women to learn professional skills and earn a respectable livelihood, besides making efforts to attain their rights.

The government, he said, wanted womenfolk to get education and training to play an important role in nation-building.

Mr Khan informed the audience that the province had 34 technical training canters and the number had now risen to 36 with the opening of one centre in Metroville and the other in Larkana. 15 more centres would be opened at various places under the programme, he added.

The government would provide employment to some 60,000 people but this would not bring down the unemployment rate, he said.

Therefore, the government had launched the BBS Youth Development Programme under which some 500,000 people would be imparted training, he added.
