Three women kidnapped

NAWABSHAH, Oct 22: Three women were kidnapped by some armed men from Hashim Leghari village in the jurisdiction of B-section police station on Wednesday.

According to reports, some Jamali tribesmen attacked Hashim Leghari village in B-section area and kidnapped three married women namely Sharifan, Waziran and Rubina, all Khaskheli by caste and escaped.

Later, a police party raided Ali Mohammed Jamali village but the villagers exchanged fire with police. However, police returned from the spot when some influential people intervened.

The incident took place reportedly when a Jamali tribe woman escaped from her home along with a Khaskheli man a few days back after which Jamali tribesmen became active for her recovery.

SHO B-section Suleman Bhutto told journalists that efforts were being made for settlement of dispute and hoped that the matter would be resolved within 24 hours. He further said that no party has reached the police station to lodge an FIR.

Acting District Nazim Abdul Haq Jamali said that he was also trying to play a role in settlement of dispute and safe recovery of the women.

Meanwhile, PPP MPA Humera Alwani has condemned the kidnapping of three women from Nawabshah.

Talking to Dawn on telephone, she said that it was responsibility of the state to stop such crimes. She further said that in such cases, the administration should not wait for parties to settle the matter but intervene and resolve it.

She said that she was contacting the IG Police of Sindh and would urge him to take notice of the incident and direct police for immediate arrest of the culprits.
