Three arrested for assaulting girl

TAXILA: Three suspects were arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl in Pindigheb town of Attock on Saturday.

In an FIR lodged with police, the victim said a woman from her area took her to a local cattle farm where three men assaulted her and fled from the scene, leaving her unconscious.

Later, the victim managed to reach her house and informed her parents who took her to the police station.

When contacted, District Police Officer Khalid Hamdani said the three suspects had been arrested and a case registered against them. He said preliminary medical examination had confirmed the assault and steps were being taken to carry out DNA tests of both the victim and the suspects.

Robber held

Cattle dealers overpowered a robber as he and his gang members robbed them in the early hours of Saturday.

According to sources, three cattle dealers from Nehlud village — Munawar Shah, Fayyaz and Noor Mohammad — were going to purchase cattle in a Suzuki pickup.

When they reached Kharpa interchange, three armed men on a motorcycle forced them to stop at gunpoint. They snatched cash from them and were escaping when Fayyaz, a former armyman, overpowered one of the robbers and snatched his gun.

The other robbers opened fire at Fayyaz but he remained unhurt. The armed men escaped from the scene with the cash while their accomplice was handed over to the police.
