LAHORE:In another horrifying incident of domestic worker abuse, a teenage maid suffered burn injuries when her employer allegedly doused her with petrol and set her on fire in the North Cantonment area. Shabnum, the victim, had been working for Nauman’s family for a couple of years, enduring reported mistreatment.
The abuse escalated when Nauman’s wife, dealing with her own frustrations, verbally and physically attacked Shabnum during a dispute. In a fit of rage, the employer threw a bottle filled with petrol on the girl and ignited it while she was taking a bath. Shabnum sustained burn
injuries and has been admitted to Mayo Hospital. The prime suspect has been arrested following intervention by the SP Cantonment.
