ISLAMABAD: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Chairman Ali Salman Siddique has said that TEVTA had launched a historic digital ‘Micro-Entrepreneurship’ programme for around 10,000 women for growing their online businesses.

TEVTA, Punjab in collaboration with Facebook/Meta had already trained 3,000 women to access the world and were planning further to train about 100,000 females across the country, he said while speaking to a private news channel.

He said providing IT training to youth specially women was the top priority of the government, adding, youth should equip themselves with digital skills so as to be able to compete in the global market. He said TEVTA was actively working in the country to prepare women to enhance their role by getting digital skills and exploiting opportunities for growth.

The chairman said this programme will make female trainees “job providers” and not “seekers” as women living in urban and rural parts of Pakistan are no less in talent or skill than male anywhere else in the society.

Replying a question, he mentioned that TEVTA Punjab has also recently launched multiple online courses for the youth comprise of Artificial intelligence, e-commerce training, Digital Marketing and Data Analyst

Due to COVID-19, a great number of people had lost their jobs but through TEVTA online courses, majority of youth were became able to increase their skills and got good-paying jobs through online businesses, he said. There were numerous opportunities in the digital economy, and importance of E-learning skills which had increased manifold after onset of Covid-19 pandemic, he added.
