Suspects involved in woman’s murder arrested

GUJAR KHAN: Suspects involved in the murder of a woman were arrested on Friday by Kahuta police.

According to details, a woman was allegedly shot dead on Sunday evening when she was travelling with her father-in-law and brother-in-law towards Kahuta. Father of the deceased reported to police that he was informed by her [the victim’s] brother-in-law that his father was shot and injured by unknown persons near the Mehal Jamal area of Kahuta. When he reached the spot, he found his daughter, Iqra bibi, 22, lying dead on the road.

During investigation, the victim’s two-and-a-half-year-old son revealed that he was with his mother at the time of the incident and she was actually shot by his uncle. Police said Iqra bibi along with her son was planning to immigrate to Italy next month, where her husband was settled but her in laws were not happy about that which is why they allegedly planned the murder. The suspects have been arrested and the weapon used in the crime has also been recovered, SP Saddar Kamran Hameed said.

Meanwhile, Pind Dadan Khan police arrested three persons involved in the murder of a man identified as Zafar, during a robbery. Robbed electric wire worth Rs200000, a motorcycle along with the weapon used in the crime has been recovered.

Separately, residents of urban and rural areas have been complaining about low gas pressure in their homes during Sehr and Iftar.

While talking to Dawn, Mohammad Bashir, resident of Dhoke Chanan Shah of Daultala town said there has been severe load shedding of gas in his area since September and no action has been taken against the issue by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). We have been burning wood on our roof to prepare food as LPG cylinders are too expensive, he added.

While taking notice of the issue, MPA PP-9 Chaudhary Javaid Kausar on Friday said if the issue is not resolved, he along with residents of the tehsil will protest against SNGPL. Officers are getting salaries from people’s taxes but they are reluctant to solve such issues.
