KARACHI: At least five men allegedly gang raped a Matric student in the jurisdiction of Surjani Town police station. Police claim to have arrested three culprits while declaring two others as absconders.

The survivor, identified as only K, is a resident of Pathan Colony, Banaras.

Quoting the her statement, investigation officer Tariq Khalid, while talking to Daily Times, said that she had fallen in love with her neighbor, Imtiaz. But their families were against their marriage. Then on June 24, Imtiaz called her to Liaquatabad and took her to a garage at sector 7-D, Surjani Town. He told her that after getting a court marriage, they would stay as man and wife in a rented house.

However, once inside the garage, some friends of Imtiaz, including Tahir, Asad, Adnan and Amir came in and raped her for two days. She somehow managed to flee and reported to the police, who registered FIR No. 293/08. Police arrested Imtiaz, Asad and Amir. The officer added that the medical examination report had corroborated the survivor’s account.
